autumn is here at last

The colours revealed by the Autumn turning can best be described as spectacular and this year is no exception with what has been up until now a slow turn but all the more beautiful by its lingering.

If you are lucky enough to have some deciduous trees in your garden and can see them from a window even better. In Canberra and surrounding districts where the temperatures really drop in winter, the turning autumn leaves can actually make this time of year a positive one. Spectacular displays of reds, oranges, corals and yellows reflected through a window can brighten up even the coldest of days.

Some of the great performers are Lagerstroemia spp. (Crepe Myrtle), Pistacia chinensis (Chinese Pistachio), Liriodendron tulipifera, (Tulip Tree), Liquidamber syraciflua (Liquidamber), Betula spp (Silver Birch) and any maples.
